Virtual Holiday Events
With COVID-19 still part of our daily lives, we have to be creative with celebrating the holidays. Below are some ideas for some fun holiday events that are all online. You can get together with others by video conferencing, learn about holiday traditions around the world, listen to music, go to museums, and play games—all online for free. There are activities for every age group and activities can be as simple or as complex as you desire
Group Video Conferencing
Whoever is the most tech-savvy of your friends or relatives can arrange a group video conference. You can connect with people anywhere as long as each person has a computer, a tablet or a smartphone. You will all be able to see each other and talk to each other. It’s a great way to talk to those you may not have seen for a long time.
With the group video conferencing mentioned above, you can also design a scavenger hunt for everyone online with you. Some people have a drink and toast each other, just like they were sitting in a bar or restaurant.
Christmas Around the World
There’s a great website that has tons of information about how Christmas is celebrated in different countries. The Borough Market in London, England, has a number of discussions and classes about food. Many museums are offering virtual tours.
Music Tours
A number of orchestras are offering free music events that are either live or taped that you can listen to.
Games
Let’s not forget games. A simple google search will show you that there are a lot of different games you can play online for free either alone or with others. While there will be plenty of video games, there are also board games like Monopoly, Chess, Backgammon, and card games, too.
You will definitely need either a computer, a tablet or a smartphone, but with just one of those, you would have access to almost everything listed above. Let’s enjoy the holidays as much as possible no matter what is going on outside.
